'To be Continued...'

Günter Grass

Nobel Prize in Literature 1999

The poor counter growing riches with growing birth rates. The affluent north and west can try to screen themselves off in security-mad fortresses, but the flocks of refugees will catch up with them: no gate can withstand the crush of the hungry.

Signed by the author, this handsome illustrated volume contains the full text of the lecture presented by Günter Grass to the Swedish Academy following his acceptance of the Nobel Prize in Literature 1999.

Over a decade since Grass was awarded the Prize, his lecture is as relevant as ever. Vibrant and uncompromising, 'To be Continued.' is a formidable attack on greed, complacency and the political elite. Peppered with powerful images, its compelling, colourful mix of nostalgia, satire and defiance delivers a battle cry against injustice which echoes down the generations.

The Nobel Prize in Literature for 1999 is awarded to the German writer Günter Grass, whose frolicsome black fables portray the forgotten face of history.
Professor Horace Engdahl, Permanent Secretary of the Swedish Academy 1999-2009

Artwork

Abigail Rorer, of The Lone Oak Press has produced a frontispiece wood engraving of Günter Grass for these volumes. The endpapers have been illustrated by the author with a striking image of 'Rat Reading', a recurring motif in his writing and one that features in the Nobel Lecture.
