Through the eyes of Antony Gormley
Schindlerís Ark by Thomas Keneally
This unique signed hand bound volume comes enclosed in a specially hand made solander box together with a print signed by Antony Gormley.
This stunning publication features two images by globally renowned artist Antony Gormley. Gormley is famous for his treatment of the human body in major artworks which explore physical existence at its most immediate, as well as in relation to the wider spatial and temporal context. The images in this volume are no exception. Light and texture are manipulated across and through an individual human form, and the images provoke important questions regarding self perception and freedom which strike to the heart of Keneallyís text.
Schindlerís Ark is a true and gripping account of the life of wealthy Nazi industrialist Oscar Schindler, who successfully used his factories as a front to save hundreds of Jews from the Nazi death camps. Schindlerís personal background offers few clues to his future championship of humanity and the book itself is an unforgettable portrait of a man at odds with history.
This volume offers a fascinating new perspective on the book, which was dramatised in 1993 in the Steven Spielberg film, Schindlerís List, winning seven Oscars and five BAFTAs, including awards for Best Picture.
